NFL Concussion Suits

300 former football players and family members are suing the NFL "for negligence and misconduct for the way it responded to players' concussions and complaints of dizziness, headaches and related problems. The lawsuits also contend the NFL deliberately downplayed the dangers of head injuries despite knowing the risks."
Many of these players are currently suffering degenerative brain diseases (could be CTE- read previous post)
Some of the players claim that Riddell Sports Inc. (the helmet company) and the NFL collaborated to "downplay the dangers of head injury."

New NFL Protocol

NFL is taking steps to make the football a safer place for athletes: the NFL has appointed independent athletic trainer to sit up in the press box who watch the film and look for concussions. This trainer will not be affiliated with either team, and will only be a consultant. Therefore, they do not have the power to remove a player from the game or diagnose the concussions.
